How to Adjust the Column Widths for Journal Evidence

How to Adjust the Column Widths for Journal Evidence

Overview

The journal evidence report has several columns, and due to space limits, some columns are shortened, which may cut off text.

This guide explains how to change the saved search settings to adjust the column sizes.

Currently, the saved search truncates these columns to the following number of characters:

Document Number

15

Account

10

Department

15

Class

15

Location

15

Custom Segment

15

Accounting Period

10

Name

25

Total Number of Characters

95

The overall limit is 95 characters, which the saved search uses to set column widths. You can adjust the number of characters for each column to change its width, but the total must always add up to 95 characters. Exceeding this total may cause issues with the PDF output. Also, only the specified columns can be modified; all other columns have fixed widths.

Note that only the listed columns can be modified. All other columns have fixed width.

Changing the Number of Characters per Column

To modify the saved search, follow the steps:

  1. Identify the Source Saved Search for the Journal Report:

    1. Navigate to Setup > Staria Poland Localization > Poland Localization Settings.

    2. Alternatively, type "Poland Localization Settings" in the global search.

    3. Click the Edit link next to the appropriate subsidiary.

    4. Go to the Journal Report subtab.

    5. Note the saved search listed in the Saved Search field. This is your source saved search.

  2. Edit the Source Saved Search:

    1. Open the saved search by typing its name in the global search.

    2. Navigate to the Results subtab.

    3. Select the column that you would like to change, and modify the number of characters as you wish.

For example:
To change the DocumentNumber column from 15 to 20 characters, update the formula from
SUBSTR({transactionnumber},0,15)
to
SUBSTR({transactionnumber},0,20).

Note: If you increase the DocumentNumber column from 15 to 20 characters, you must decrease another column's character count to keep the overall total unchanged.
