Polish Accounting Laws: Language and Currency Requirements
In Poland, the legal framework for accounting is set by the Accounting Act of 1994. According to this Act, businesses must maintain accounting books in the Polish language and record transactions in Polish złoty (PLN). The regulations also require that all supporting documentation and accounting policies be documented in Polish, which ensures compliance with local financial reporting standards. These regulations are intended to promote transparency and consistency in financial reporting across entities operating within Poland. Exceptions exist for entities under international reporting requirements like the IFRS, which may apply in certain circumstances, particularly for companies listed on regulated markets or specific financial entities
